I've been getting a ton of hits from people searching for the term "Pentecost Rapture 2009", so I think an update of my previous post about the subject is due.

Here are my notes on the subject:

Splitting Prophecy

Luke 4:18-21 - The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Jesus said this scripture was fulfilled. The problem is, He stopped before the end of the prophecy. If we go to Isaiah, where this prophecy comes from, we read:

Isaiah 61:1,2 - The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

The part He left out is “and the day of vengeance of our God”. Jesus came to fulfill the first part of this prophecy, but will fulfill the rest at a future time.

We can find another splitting of prophecy in scripture in the books of Acts and Joel.

Acts 2:16-18 - But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

At Pentecost, we know this scripture was fulfilled, however it was only a partial fulfillment.

Joel 2:28-31 - And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

There will be a future fulfillment of the remaining of this prophecy where the signs in the heavens appear and there is blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.
If the first part of this prophecy was fulfilled on Pentecost, would it pick back up on Pentecost?

Let’s take a look at what is happening at the time of this fulfillment.

Joel 2:1,2 - Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for [it is] nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, [even] to the years of many generations.

This is the same Magog war we see explained in Ezekiel 38,39

Joel 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

Leviticus 23:36, Numbers 29:35, Deuteronomy 16:8, 2 Chronicles 7:9, and Nehemiah 8:18 all mention this “Solemn Assembly”. In every instance, the solemn assembly is in reference to Pentecost. It means “A day of restraint”.

So this Magog war takes place around Pentecost. Next verse:

Joel 2:16 - Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

Either Christ is returning with His bride, or He is coming to take His bride.

John 4:35 - Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

It was four months prior to Tabernacles. That places Jesus at the well around Pentecost.

The disciples saw the fields of people in white robes running toward Jesus, representing the rapture; Once again, around the time of Pentecost.

John 4:40 - So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

Two days (representing two thousand years) Jesus dwelt with the Gentiles.

According to Jewish tradition, Enoch was born on Pentecost. This same tradition teaches that Enoch was taken from the earth on his 360th birthday, just prior to the great flood. Once again, a rapture at Pentecost. 360 degrees is a full circle. The church began on Pentecost in the book of Acts, and when it comes full circle, the church may be leaving on Pentecost!

Pentecost is also the day the Torah was given on Mt. Sinai.

In Habakkuk chapter one, you can read once again of the Magog invasion. We have already seen that this takes place around Pentecost. Now lets go to the next chapter and see what the Lord tells Habakkuk about this vision of the Magog war.

Habakkuk 2:2,3 - And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

The Hebrew for “appointed time” here is “Mow’ed” meaning an appointed festival, or feast day. We already know which feast day this is, Habakkuk only confirms that it is a feast day when this war takes place.

Ruth 1:22 - So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.

When did they come? In the beginning of the barley harvest, which is around Passover.

Ruth 3:2 - And now [is] not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

And Ruth was espoused to Boaz on the threshingfloor where he is winnowing barley. This is the end of the barley harvest, also known as Pentecost!

Just as we will be espoused at the rapture, and then be presented not as the bride, but as the wife in Revelation 19:7

Song of Solomon 2:10-13 - My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over [and] gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing [of birds] is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines [with] the tender grape give a [good] smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Once again, we can see a foreshadowing of the rapture taking place after winter, and after the spring rains. Although it doesn’t specifically say it, I believe we have set a sure foundation showing that this is speaking of Pentecost.

Zephaniah 1:12 - And it shall come to pass at that time, [that] I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

The night before Passover, the family takes candles and searches for all leaven in the house (leaven representing sin)

Zephaniah 1:14 - The great day of the LORD [is] near, [it is] near, and hasteth greatly, [even] the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

Zephaniah 3:18 - I will gather [them that are] sorrowful for the solemn assembly, [who] are of thee, [to whom] the reproach of it [was] a burden. (Pentecost)

Amos 5:20,21 - [Shall] not the day of the LORD [be] darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. (Pentecost)

Malachi 4:4 - Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, [with] the statutes and judgments.

Moses received the law on Pentecost.

Malachi 4:5 - Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

A place is set for Elijah at the Sedar meal every Passover.

Keep in mind that in the days of Noah, there were three types of people. Those who left before the flood (Enoch), those who were preserved through the flood (Noah), and those who died in the flood.

Personally, I believe there is a very sure foundation that the rapture takes place on Pentecost. There is also a strong possibility that the Magog war takes place on Pentecost.

The only thing I ask myself now is this: Is the Pentecost of the rapture, and the Pentecost of the Magog war the same year?

Some believe that the Magog war and Armageddon are the same war.

Some believe that although Magog and Armageddon are the same war, the Magog war begins in 2009, lasts for seven years, and culminates to the war of Armageddon.

Whatever the significance, I do believe something will happen this weekend. Whether it is the rapture, the beginning of war, or perhaps both.

I pray we are counted worthy to escape all these things (Luke 21:36)
